Karen Kim, is currently a student of Donald Weilerstein at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has won numerous concerto competitions and has subsequently performed with the Oshkosh, La Crosse, Madison, Midwest Young Artists, and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras. She was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2000 American String Teachers' Association National Solo Competition, and second prize at the 2001 Fischoff National Chamber Music competition. She has been featured as both a chamber musician and a soloist on the National Public Radio show "From the Top". She also received first prize in the 2000 Midwest Young Artists Walgreen's Concerto Competition and grand prize in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition in 1998.
Karen received a level I award at the NFAA ARTS week and was also named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts in 2001. She has received scholarships from the Donna Reed Festival for the Performing Arts and the Music for Youth Foundation.
